You’re busy with life.

YOU ARE SICK AND TIRED OF FEELING SICK AND TIRED.

You have so many things you should be doing that, if you’re lucky, you have just enough time to do a once-a-week workout. Therefore, you’d love it if it the benefits of that one workout would last all week.

You know you should keep fit but a busy, noisy, dirty gym is not for you. In fact, the sight of all that lycra brings you out in hives! You would prefer to work out in intimate surroundings with a dedicated teacher and a group of people who were all interested in the same thing – stretching their MINDS as well as their BODIES.

Failing that, you’d be happy to work out at home in front of the computer with the family and the dog locked outside the room so you can have just five minutes to yourself! Five minutes where you can be who you really are, not who you should be.

ABOUT ME

I know how you feel.

LIKE YOU, I HAVE HAD A LOT OF “SHOULDS” IN MY LIFE.

For example, I thought I should do an hour’s yoga before breakfast but found I was not eating until almost lunchtime when I ended up eating junk food which sort of defeated the purpose. Now, I like to workout for between 5 and 10 minutes each morning, or afternoon, or before I head out for classes in the evening. Small chunks of “stretch” squeezed into my day work best for me.

I thought I should have a proper job by now. Instead, I live my joy by teaching Yoga and Pilates and training people to become extraordinary Yoga Teachers and Pilates Instructors. I am the founder of StretchBodyMind and the creator of award-winning charity Stretch & Play as well as online business course Stretch Your Biz.

I’ve been practicing Yoga for almost 30 years and teaching for over 15. I have been teaching Pilates since 2006 and been training people to become teachers since 2007. I am a Senior Yoga Teacher (1000+ hours) and I’m insured to teach both Yoga and Pilates at all levels (including pregnancy yoga).

AND HERE COMES THE BIG ONE:

I thought that being a Yoga Teacher/Pilates Instructor meant I should look a certain way.

YET … I DIDN’T.

Recently, a combination of medication and poor diet choices have led me to put on weight that doesn’t want to come off again. However, as I’ve gotten older and larger and less flexible, I’ve also gotten wiser and recognised how Yoga and Pilates can be very elitist and only suitable for the youngest and skinniest and bendiest amongst us.

So, I made a decision to address this in my classes and Teacher Training courses. I am a member of the Yoga & Body Image Coalition, the first person in Scotland to train as a Curvy Yoga Teacher, and I work hard to make my classes inclusive and accessible to all.

I believe that life is best when it’s balanced. Especially if that means I don’t have to follow the “shoulds” and can eat Krispy Kreme doughnuts as well as Kombucha and Kale Chips!

In order to find that balance, I want to explore the more esoteric side of my personality. So, I’m using this website to draw together my studies in Pilates, Yoga, Mindfulness, Meditation, Aromatherapy, Ayurveda, Kinesiology and the Enneagram and I intend to create a shakti-filled community here. I sincerely hope you will join me.
